We frequently drive down O'Connell Street, and for quite some time we have gazed upward toward the second floor at what appeared to be a nice restaurant. So after many months of wondering we decided that it was time to give it a try. After dining here we all had the same thought: "what took us so long!" The first thing that strikes you upon entering is the elegant decor of the restaurant. There are no kitsch Indian decorations but rather a peaceful water feature and an elegant chandelier. Not to mention the comfortable leather chairs and the long flowing bar. The next surprise came when the food arrived. The food was so intensely flavoured and best of all they can alter most dishes to suit your individual taste, which in our case was for an extra amount of heat. Our dining experience was further enhanced by our waitress for the night. Pounam (I hope I spelt that correctly) is a real assett to this restaurant. Not only was she very helpful, her friendly and warm personality helped make it a very special night for all of us. The final surprise came at the end. When one considers the superior level of service, ambience and food on offer here, the prices are very reasonable. Indeed, my only regret was that it took us so long to decide to eat here. I am sure that it wont be so long before our next visit.

Without a doubt the best Indian restaurant I have ever been to. From the staple Indian dishes through to the more unique specials on their menu, they are all brilliant and exceed other restaurants by far. We are always served by friendly staff and the restaurant itself is very comfortable and classy.

Arya is the best restaurant ever! I absolutely loved it! I am so obsessed with their food now. Since it was my birthday they even gave me a free glass of the wine I was drinking. I absolutely recommend the chicken Chettinad, the King Prawn Pakoras, & the Vegetable Pakoras. They are so delicious!!! Great experience & I will without a doubt be back. :D

The curry at Arya is the most exceptional curry I have ever eaten, and I've been to India and eaten A LOT of curry in my time. Their home made paneer is perfection, particularly in the palak spinach sauce, and the breads light and fluffy and to die for. The service is second to none. They remember my name, my favourite dish, and most of all my favourite wine, once telling me that upon seeing my booking realised they were out of Momo Sauv Blanc and went out to get it from the bottlo. Excellent value too, would expect to pay far more for the standard of the food, the location, and the fine dining service. I do get a touch narky when I'm charged for takeaway containers though, sometimes it's just a dollar, another time it was eight as there was someone new on the till and I wasn't given a reprieve. Having said that, I'd pay it regardless because I love it so. I go there at the very least monthly and every time is an absolute pleasure.

Quite the best " Birmingham" style curry I have tasted, so far, in Australia. A little cool for my taste but the kitchens will adjust the heat of the choice to your personal taste

My partner, child and I dined at Arya mid last week and all in all it was a pleasant experience. After choosing Banquet 2 I was looking forward to a feast. Not realising how mild the curries were I did not ask for extra "heat" and was thus disappointed. I am going back next week and will definitely ask for them to be spicier. Flavours were interesting, quite authentic and service was excellent. Still fails to compare to another well known Indian SA food icon.

A cut above your average Indian restaurant, very tastefully decorated. Enjoyed a Sunday lunch with a group of friends, (who had been before). We had the option of a buffet or ordering from the menu. Our group decided on the buffet and we were not dissapointed, thoughtful regional foods cooked with intelligence. A good selection of wines to choose from and a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy both. We are planning to get back there very soon, this time to choose from the menu, all of which looked and sounded rather stunning.

Arya is a very classy Indian restaurant with good food and an excellent wine list. Our seafood "feast" was a great choice. While slightly intrusive, the waitstaff were generally on top of things. Our only issues were that our table was too close to others (which was a problem conversation-wise and getting into and out of our seats) and that they didn't honor the full discount we should have got with our Entertainment Book tickets. Didn't make a fuss over $20, but likely won't bother to return - we'll go to the Jasmin instead.
