What a wonderful Indian restaurant! The food was absolutely amazing. I had the butter chicken, and my other half the korma curry, both of which were divine. Good size servings kept my tummy marvellously happy for a long time after, and at very reasonable prices! The service was very friendly and attentive, with the exception of a waiter who was quite obviously new and very nervous! (this is what lots them the 0.5 points on service) The place is beautifully decorated and very warm. The only thing I could fault is that it does get very noisy on a saturday night and it became a little hard to hear in conversation, however I guess that happens when you have such a successful business. I adore this place and will definitely be returning time and time again!

I dined at British India a couple of weeks ago and my experience was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful in making our decisions. I chose the braised lamb shanks which were absolutely delicious. They were also more than willing to cater for one of our guests with a special dietary requirement. Overall it was delightful experience and we will be returning again soon.

One of the best Indian restaurants I have ever dined at. The flavour of the food as well as the quality of it, in addition to the warm and amazing decor make this is a great place to eat. What I found particularly surprising was the value for money aspect. It only costs a couple of dollars more to eat here compared to medicore Indian restaurants, yet this one is light years ahead. The only negative I found were that some of the waiting staff (particularly the women) were really apathetic and surly. It's not that hard to smile.

I dined here last Friday night for the first time and will definitely be going back. The staff were very friendly and were always visiting our table making sure we had enough food and drinks. We didn't have to wait very long at all for the food to come out, considering it was very busy. The staff were more than happy to make my meal gluten free which I was very grateful for. This place has a great menu and I will certainly be going back to try more of it! Great place for a night out with friends.

An update on my last review of the Thali Room section of British India. This time early on a seemingly quiet Thursday night, a better table and much better service vastly improved my opinion of this restaurant. Again the food was excellent and quickly delivered. For good value, good quality Indian with plenty of variety on the short menu, I highly recommend the Thali Room. The caveat being that you should book for weekends and ask for a table away from the windows if you're only booking for two.

The service was good, very prompt to bring drinks and were always filling our water glasses and checking if we needed anything. The food was excellent, I had the beef vindaloo and pride myself on knowing all the best places to get a good vinda and this is one of the best I've had. Great size, excellent cuts of meat and most importantly extremely tasty and very spicy!! This dish will get me going back many times for more. It was quite noisy but what do you expect from a busy, popular restaurant on a Saturday night, it just adds to the atmosphere for me. The only thing I could really fault is the very unfriendly waitress. Sure she did a good job but the overall experience would have been topped of if she'd done it with a smile. A very miner thing that will not stop me going back. Well done British India. Keep up the good work.

Have eaten here a couple of times now and have really enjoyed my meals. The ambience is very pleasant and the service excellent. One negative was that I found the chairs REALLY uncomfortable which made me not want to sit there for much longer than it took to eat! Otherwise loved it!

Visited twice now, enjoy the food each time we have been. Good fresh and interesting flavours to explore. Each visit however has been memorable for the staff, mix ups, cock ups and misunderstandings. We conclude that the British part in the of this restaurant refers to its similarities to "Faulty Towers".

Fantastic Food - Be prepared to wait a VERY VERY long time for food in the restuarant. The Tali room is a great option for a quick meal and exceptional value.

Awesome decor and atmosphere and clever branding/promotion - definitely something a little different to every other very average Indian restaurant in Adelaide. Food a little disappointing though - tasty and would happily go back - but not the outstanding that I'd heard... I grew up in the UK and this was no better than an average curry house there (which I believe are generally of a higher standard than in Australia) Prices are a little high for what it is... think Charminar is better for food quality.

I ' ve been to this restaurant only once and my last trip to this place too. Heard a lot of things about the ambience, so went there last week with a friend, which was very disappointing ( as their service was shocking, took them 1 hour to get our mains as we didn't order any entrees. But bad luck, my lamb shank was a bit shocking, bit cold then expected temperature and the saffron rice was a bit cold too. Felt like they offered us left overs from the previous night. My friend has ordered butter chicken which was too sweet. We had to ask them 3 times to refill our water glasses. Disgusting service and quality of food. Only count on ambience. My strong suggestion to them is to offer kind service and try to improve the quality of the food to keep up the quality of eatery places in adelaide.

We have only visited the Thali Room component of British India so can only comment on that. That said, both spaces look very impressive and fit in well with this reviving corner of Gouger/Morphett. Unfortunately, however, we were punished for not having a booking and were made to sit at this insane pokey table in what appeared to be a hypnotist's phone box. Decidely odd and off-putting. The food was very good though and well priced. My prefered way to eat Indian is in the thali style (lots of little bowls of curry and daals with rice), so I loved this! The Malabar Thali (prawns) is highly recommended. But another letdown was the service; not much of it and with that horrible attitude of the diners being there to please the waitstaff not the other way around. Overall, though, the Thali Room is recommended for a good, quick meal when the Market food courts don't appeal.

Having booked this retaurant for valentines day earlier this year i was shocked that there were no decorations and the place was more than half empty. No valentines specials not so much as a cardboard love heart cut out. What does this say about a restaurant that doesnt fill up on the one day of the year it should be brimming? Service is prompt, surprisingly, but doesnt make up for the food which is average.
