Great neighbourhood pub. The front bar is comfy with open fires and plenty of seating - large range of beers on tap. To eat, the beer garden is enclosed and heated although if you're on the edge it can be a bit cool. This is definitely a steak pub - the menu looks promising with good hearty pub food but unfortunately on the night that we went it didn't deliver - the pie was average as were the sausages. The steak eaters were not disappointed though.

For some reason I always feel gypped when I come here. Steak eaters are safe as the steaks are good quality and cooked well for the price paid. I tried the lamb this time and the lamb portion was tiny (despite being a backstrap rather than a fillet) and overcooked. Service was excellent though as we didn't have a booking on a busy Friday night and a table was quickly re-set for us. Good wine list too.

The British is a great 'local' pub. A bugger to get a park for mid-week lunchtimes but worth the effort. It's worth remembering the bar vs. bistro division (no schnitters to be had in the bistro) but excellent dining options either way. Service can be slow, but that's usually ok as it's a social thing, not an eating thing here most times. Excellent steaks, reasonable prices - what more can you really ask for in a pub diner?
