Fabulous food, beautifully presented! The waiting staff were very pleasant and attentive. Even got a free drink on my birthday! Would love to go back again :)

My favourite restaurant! The waiter was very attentive without being intrusive. The food was delicious and the portions were well sized.

I was a guest at a dinner for a friend's birthday at this restaurant this evening but I was disappointed with both the service and the meal. Initilly i was under the impression from the name of the Motel it's in, that the restaurant was located on the roof garden- just the opposite. It's on the ground. Really, it's just a cafe. To begin with, when I entered the restaurant my friends had not yet arrived so I asked the maitre' d if there was a party booked under the name. He informed me there was NO party booked that night AT ALL. My friend had booked under her first name but at no time did he say "Maybe you meant this name." We were TOLD the specials and expected to remember them also...... i started off with a few slices of toasted turkish bread...nothing special really, for $6.00 I ordered the kangaroo at $29.00 which was presented as though it had been thrown together hastily. Very messy. The meat sat drooped over a soggy pastry casing filled with quandong and a piece of rosemary stuck out of it. The plentiful sauce was drooled over the plate and the baby beetroot sat there looking like roasted skun mice. I did try to eat the pastry casing but it was unpalatable. The meat itself was cooked medium- rare as I had asked and was quite nice but no better than I could get at the local pub. Next the misrepresented "home-made apple pie ice cream with warm flakey pastry" One's first impression is that of "Home-made apple pie with warm flakey pastry and ice cream" Three of us who had the dish, had that first impression and the waiter had to explain that it was not that but we opted to try it anyway. Apart from paying nearly $16.00 for a scoop of ice-cream being totally outrageous, the presentation was both childish and minimalist. Anybody can stick a shortbread biscuit in a lump of ice-cream and cut a strawberry in halves. There was NO "warm flakey pastry" There was, however a cheap shortbread biscuit which was neither warm nor was it pastry. I brought this to the attention of the waiter who agreed with me when he saw it and said he would let the chef know. Well... that's wonderful but I still didn't get what I paid for and not even an offer of a free coffee to compensate. Most restaurants offer something in lieu if a mistake has been made. The service was acceptable but not the standard I would expect for the prices we paid. The lapse of time between table clearings was unacceptable. It seemed as if two plates would be removed then they'd forget and a while later another two, so you sit there staring at your plate, waiting. I realise they have rent to pay. So do I. You often find that most people are too afraid to speak up and say what they actually honestly think of meals at a restaurant. They just smile and say "That was lovely" and never return. I did keep my complaints to a minimum so as not to ruin my friend's night but that's what this forum is for and I emailed this to them as well. As the other reveiwer above said, it was really no more than cafe food and actually I found the staff to be rather offhanded and aloof. To put it bluntly... I won't be back. I'll tell my friends and anyone else who'll listen.
