My partner & I love going to East Taste on inexpensive dinner dates. It's a simply furnished restaurant but don't be deceived! As with most of the best eateries on Gouger St it's not about the interior, it's about the food & the people you're with! There are always plenty of staff to assist, even when it gets really busy on Friday & Saturday nights. Fave dishes are the honey eggplant entree & the "BBC" - green beans, bean curd, chilli.

To be fair, have only had one take-away meal but menu looked interesting for a vegetarian. Looked like a nice place to dine in but have to say, my salt and pepper egg-plant (which was reasonably expensive compared with other places on gouger) was the oiliest meal I think I have ever eaten. Flavour was really good, but too greasy for me.

Not as cheap as some of the other asian restaurants down Gouger Street but it's still good value and I think the food is better. It's a very popular place and quite small so it's a good idea to book. Be warned, it can get very noisy in there so don't go if you're looking for a quiet place to chat over dinner! But the vibrancy is great if you like that sort of thing. The Salt & Pepper Squid Tentacles for entree are the best.

Good food but a little more expensive than the other chinese places nearby (i think the prices listed on the menu here are out of date?). Love the e-shand chicken and the salt & pepper squid tentacles. Be warned though, this place is really noisy and so some nights you almost have to shout at each other to be heard. In saying that, it does have a nice feel to it but you should book in advance as its not a big place and often full and has a line up of people waiting outside.
