Fantastic. Long time coming for a restuarant this good in Adelaide. Nice to see Authenticity not exchanged for cliche. Deluxe sushi/sashimi boat-outrageous. Only downfall- wasabi could be stronger...menial critique really!

Great spot. Consistent service, atmosphere, menu, value. Try the ramen- it will make your day. Of course the down side of a great place is that it can be hard to get a table!

We love eating at wasai. Even when I was pregnant I felt comfortable eating all their dishes. The food is always fresh and tasty. The host is welcoming and very friendly. It is very good value for authentic japanese.

We have eaten there several times. The sushi is as good, if not better, than any other in Adelaide. The menu has plenty of choice and the prices are more than reasonable. It is quite popular - there have always been plenty of other diners when we've been there. I highly recommend it.

Wasai is great!! Me and my girlfriend have been there 3 times and each time we've loved it! Personal favourites are the tori mayonnaise and the miso soup. One of the best japanese places in Adelaide!

WOW! Such fresh sushi, great atmosphere and really good value. For two people it's less than $40 for us both to walk out stuff full of fresh sushi. Octopus entree is delicious. Sushi boat ($30 for a huge selection - heaps for 2 to share - adding an entree to share is seriously pushing it for me!) is full of such fresh beautiful sushi. Service is good - nothing of note but totally fine. Pleasant atmosphere - nice attention to detail with decor - lots of different crockery on each table, etc. If you like sushi or Japanese even a tiny bit - go there! Really special.

Great. Better first few times than the last (the eggplant entre I usually love got awfully oily), but I'll be back this week. Word of mouth is first rate, as it should be.

Amazing restaurant. Authentic Japanese cuisine that comes in massive sizes yet is cheaper than many other restaurants with lower food quality.

fantastic food, good service, we're regular diners at wasai (eat in & take away). love the eggplant entree, and soba salad too. tsunami (lychee alcoholic drink) is a highlight. only disappointment is the last two visits they didn't have our favourite menu item - marbled angus beef. always happy with a meal at wasai!

Great Japanese food here. One of the better ones, if not the best, in Adelaide. It's great because the decor reminds me of the calmness surrounding the culture and the food. I always feel like I'm eating in a simple and uncomplicated environment, with simple and uncomplicated meals. The food is served promptly and the sushi is very fresh- made to order. They also serve you complimentary appetisers, little salted broad beans. It's the little touches like these that cost little, but win so many customers and maintain their loyalty. Thumbs up, from a marketing point of view.

This was my first real experience of Japanese food and I wasn't disappointed. i went with a group so we ordered a variety of dishes and shared. The decor has a great feel to it and the service was friendly & efficient. My highlight was the chicken dish with mayo sauce which sounds a bit boring but was unreal! I definately recommend this melt in your mouth chicken dish.

Reliably good and authentic nihon ryori - much like you get in an izakya.

Wasai for me was authentic in an aesthetic kind of way - minamalist kind of interior decoration. Service is efficient and the food is good value for money and flavour some. I went with 2 others and none of us were wowed by the tastes but then we didn't expect to be. I had a seafood - hot pot esq meal, one friend had eel and another a chicken dish.

When it comes to aesthetics the Japanese are true masters. Wasai is no exception with a keen eye to detail. Sleek and stylish with wooden screens, rice paper lanterns, lacquered mahogany textured tables and pretty clay soy sauce holders and an urn of seven spices creates a beautiful contemporary Japonoise setting. We took a sake flight sampling three varieties. Edamame, soybeans in the pods are boiled in water together with condiments such as salt, and served whole. While this is customarily served with sake this is the first time I have come across this tradition which my friend Cari says is customary having lived in Kobe for a year. The spider rolls are their forte - do not miss this! For the rest of the review including pictures, go to my foodblog: http://meagan-megalomaniac.blogspot.com/2008/08/wasai-falls-by-weyside.html

Absolutely love Wasai, great service, great staff, fantastic food, good range, always fresh. The only thing which could be better would be the wine list and the noise but hey, who's complaining when everything else is so good!
