My parents took me as a girl, and I continue to go with clients & friends. The service is impeccable! I couldn't fault it if I tried. The food is delicious & you never walk away hungry. Have to agree with some of the feedback that it is on the pricier side however for full table service & beautiful meals the price is arguably fair... The ambience hasn?t changed at all! Not necessarily a bad thing as it gives the place a sense of a character rather than a sterile modern feel that a lot of other places have these days.
Every time we have visited both the food and the service have been excellent. I agree that it is a bit overpriced, but I never leave feeling that I havent received value for money.
My first visit to La Tombola was a good one. I ordered the Penne Marinara & Torta Alla Cioccolata. Both were brilliant. Service was spot on, despite the restaurant being full. Recommended.
The food was lovely using obviously fresh ingredients. The wine list was excellent, and well matched to the foods. The staff where helpful and attentive, the only downside for me was for Italian influenced food it was a little expensive. This however shouldn't stop anyone who wants to give it a try.
My mother in law loves gnocchi (Irish always love potatoes), she adored the Pumpkin gnocchi with roast pumpkin, bruchetta in a creamy sauce (pity the size was so big it seemed a waste even though we did get the entre size). My steak cooked just the way I like it - med. Potatoes though tasted a little old - but once eaten with the red wine jus they were good. This is our second time. Even though the prices are a little high for the size, we will return as our service was great.
I have dined here a few times some years ago now though, and always had a great meal. The chicken in the creamy sauce is great, as with many other dishes. Service was always good, and look forward to going back in the near future :)
Staff are always helpfull. Food is always nice. A bit over priced for what it is. We will go back again though.
Staff helpful and polite and attentive. Food was very good and generous servings with fresh plump prawns and seafood. Bread served before our meal which is a bonus these days.
Decor dated and service a bit amateur. My veal was absolutely delicious but my friends were a little disappointed with their mains. Lovely oysters for entree. Not bad but If you are looking for old style Italian, you are better off going to La Trattoria or Enzos.
I found that the food was quite good once we got it. One of our party was forgotton and had to wait for his main to arrive some time after everyone else had finished. Serving flat Coke from a 1.25 litre bottle they purchased for qbout $1.50 and charging $4.00 a glass is unforgivable. The same goes for a $3.00 piece of toast. Staff needs to pay more attention. I asked for a Peroni beer and got a brandy. The back of house and the paying attention to the small things would make this into a great restaurant/ Rob
Reasonable size serve for main course. Well prepared and service about what you would expect for a restaurant with its reputation. But boy do they know how to charge. $3.00 for a piece of toast, $35 for a plate of pasta, $35 for a piece of fish.
Extremely bad..service poor, food highly overpriced. Went with 10 people, and all have decided we wouldn't return!
