Food: 4 Ambience: 4 Service: 4 Value: 4I love the atmosphere inside the restaurant, and the service provided is great. The people who work in there are very nice and friendly and are readily to assist in any service needed. The food is yummy and very tasty and I really love the way they make the food and the texture and the way the food is presented on the plate. I would come there anytime and anyday!

Food: 5 Ambience: 4 Service: 4 Value: 5Once I walked into a Korean restaurant called Mapo and simply ordered off the menu. What I got was a feast for the tastebuds in a rather hot stone bowl! The service was great, with a rather funny waiter keeping us amused.
The next time I went I was bolder and ventured into the BBQ room. While this is nowhere near as nicely furnished, it more than makes up for it in food choice, experience and atmosphere.
They say that if a restaurant has a lot of patrons from its country of origin, it must be good food. As the only non-korean people in the room, that spoke volumes about the quality of the food.
Getting up, selecting which raw marinated meats and vegies you want, taking them to your table and then cooking them over a coal fire, an experience which is not only fun but satisfying. Your hotplate gets too burnt? No problem, someone will change it for you.
The value for money was fantastic as $25 not only covers all you can eat from the buffet (which also includes some sushi, fried chicken, salads, rice, vegetables, as well as meats) but it covered soft drinks too. A very extensive wine list compliments the food.
I have been back to Mapo innumerable times and each time is a delight. Whether it is A La Carte bringing a new taste, or the BBQ room bringing a noisy, but fun experience, I will continue to go there until the food turns bad. Fortunately I don't see this happening, so bring on the Dullsot Bibimbap!

Food: 3 Ambience: 1 Service: 1 Value: 1after booking a table via the net for a tuesday night and flying interstate to have this meal,we find the restaurant barely air-conditioned as it was an extremely hot night it was very uncomfortable.
after ordering we had quite a wait for the wine which did not come with a wine bucket, then we find out that they have run out of the duck that i wanted.we were seated near a large table of twelve which were very noisy all in all not a very good meal out.

Food: 5 Ambience: 5 Service: 4 Value: 4Mapo is me and my partner's favourite restaurant and we go there as often as we can. We celebrate our anniversaries and birthdays or we just go there because we really enjoy their food, service and the atmosphere. They have on their tables tealight candles which add to the ambience and the decor and furnishings are warm. The service is great and they are very friendly and welcoming. One waiter knows our order everytime we go there, he remembers! The food is absolutely fantastic and the dullsot's are the best. We have tried quite a few things on the menu and all is really well presented and tastes fabulous, mouth-watering!Well Done Mapo on excellence all round.

Food: 5 Ambience: 4 Service: 5 Value: 4It was a special birthday which called for a special lunch, and so it was that I happily invited my Dad to Mapo.
For a somewhat inexperienced Korean-food eater, the a-la-carte menu can seem slightly daunting, but the assistance of the effervescent waiter who looked after us made the process easy. For gluttonys sake - the chance to try as many dishese as possible always throws me - the three of us decided to share four starters, followed by two mains. Everything was delicious, and the caramelised beef stew was a particular highlight for everyone - meltingly tender chunks of beef swimming in a just sweet enough sauce (or glaze). The raw beef starter was also an excellent recommendation from the waiter - give it a go! A sufficient wine list with some good options by the glass helped add to the total package.
Atmospherically, as we came on the tail end of a Friday lunch the place wasn't pumping, but the quiet traditional music and winter sun through the window made for a pleasant glow.
I would recommend that anyone give Mapo a go at least once, and after reading the other reviews, we will definitely be going back to try the BBQ Room too!
