I went to this place because of the recommnedations of this website and was very disappointed. Who are writing these reviews. Judging by the disagreements it must be the owners. Slow service, bad attitude, small serves, over priced, and very loud. I felt I was in a disco. Do your self a favour and gie ita miss.
I stumbled across this restaurant on the Web Menu site by accident and dined there last night. It was THE most amazing experience - from the food, to the service, to the wine to the atmosphere. EVERYTHING was spot on. I highly recommend the White Anchovy and Egg Gribiche Tapas. I cannot see how you could go wrong dining there. Loved it, loved it, loved it!
Thought it was fantastic, had been wanting to go for a while. Booked in to take a friend from interstate & then had been reading some of the reviews on here. I felt a little worried to be taking someone there as i had read some bad things. Just goes to show you need to go check out for yourself & that sometimes people expect too much all for $37. Was amazing so no complaints whatsoever we were so full. Great job guys
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Melt... Love the staff.. Love the food.. Love the setting... simply amazing! Melt mondays we call them now as we go almost every monday! The best Pizza by far in SA. Never disappointed.. good wines too! If you get a chance taste some of the tapas avaliable and the bubbaganosh dip... THE BEST! Well done Melt...
A bustling yet laid back atmosphere is what to expect. It's popular, so if you don't like a crowded house maybe it's not for you, but it it is worth it for the best pizza in SA. The Albondigas (Spanish meatball) is superb and the Pizzini Brachetto 2008, if you like your sweets goes nicely with. Remember to book.
Recently celebrated a friends birthday with a casual Saturday lunch. Our whole experience was nothing short of fabulous! All four in the party agree the pizzas are now the best in Adelaide. Have replaced GoodLife at the No. 1 spot. Great wine list and quick attentive service. Always busy, would not go without a reservation. Well done to the Melt team.
We had a great meal at melt. The service was good and the pizzas were fabulous!the duck calzone and a spanish meatball pizza were to die for. Will definitely be going back.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere at this restaurant and the staff were friendly, the food was really wonderful.
Absolutely divine!!!! Delicious tapas and pizzas. Great value for money too
We had the 'shared table' option with a selection of tapas, pizza and dessert for a per person charge. Great value for money, every dish was great. Service was excellent even though it was busy. Quite loud for a Sunday night dinner. Will definitely be back!
What a great place!!! Went there for my son's 15th birthday and we wer all blown away by the quality of the food and the friendly (anf helpful) service. The restaurant always appears to be busy so booking is essential. Great atmosphere. My son is a plain eater yet he tried different Tapas items and had a ball. Will be back again soon to celebrate my wife's birthday!
Having always wanted to go to Melt I finally did on the weekend. Absolutely sensational. The Duck Calzone is superb, the service was fantastic and the decor great. The only, minor, thing a tad annoying was being wedged between a table of 4, looking out at the footpath and a table of 6 along the wall. Cannot wait to go back
simply the best pizza in adelaide.
Not really much more to add than what others have already said! This is always my first choice for eating out. As a vegetarian it is one of the few places in Adelaide that has genuinely original and delicious vegetarian options! The potato pizza is absolutely amazing and the tapas are always delicious , fresh and unforgettable. The only issue I have with this place is I wish they would get a larger premises so it's not so squashy and loud - but really - when the food is this good you live with it happily.
I had a fantastic experience at Melt last night. The staff were friendly and welcoming and made room for us even though we didn't book. The tapas we tried were flavoursome, and the meatball pizza was delicious! Can't wait to go back
The pizzas from Melt are to die for. I have eaten pizza from all over Adelaide and have found Melt to be in the top handful of places I would confidently recommend to friends. Also, don't be afraid to try the Chocolate and Pistachio Pizza with Frangelico Cream - it's awesome. To anyone who's looking to dine at Melt you can expect a relaxed yet funky atmosphere and pizzas that are superior to most pizza restaurants in Adelaide.
Great vibe for a small venue. A huge selection of food to choose from so we had some tapas and pizza. Some quirky wines on the list and new beer I havn't had before either. Friendly staff and all open kitchen so you can se what's happing!! Definitely be back!
This is the perfect place to meet with friends for a lovely lunch or over dinner before heading out to a night in the City as EVERYONE likes pizza and the range of cocktails and drinks available at the bar will also suit everyone. There is a wide range of unusual pizza toppings and you just cannot leave before trying the dessert pizzas with hazelnut and chocolate toppings!!!!!
Great spot - it's crowded because its popular and its popular because the food is great. Definitely need to book. Even though it was packed to capacity the service was speedy. The tapas is fresh and the pizzas are tasty. Reasonable wine list too.
I stumbled across Melt one Sunday afternoon. Having recently been bitten by the Spanish food bug, I chose the albondigas tapas as well as the 160 pizza, both were fresh and delicious. The staff were friendly and provided great service, however perhaps a cocktail list could be introduced? I did enjoy my late afternoon Negroni, though. I'd definitely return to sample more of the pizza menu.
The food is very good here and it is matched by friendly service. It is not a cheap way to enjoy pizza (probably best to leave kids at home) but the tapas are very tasty and it is a fun place to eat out.
Everything is so fresh and beautiful-literally melts in your mouth! Great atmosphere and if you can't get a seat the take away is great too!
A great place to meet with friends... pretty good risotto balls too! Can get a little too warm inside.
Second visit to Melt and the food is amazing. Has replaced Good Life for pizzas and the tapas dishes are delicious. Service is friendly and speedy.
The pizza & tapas are delicious - I recommend The Turk. Friendly staff. Great place to share food with friends.
This is a favourite of mine. Whilst the pizzas are great we are always drawn back for the everchanging tapas menu. Very good wine list which wont cost a fortune. We were in a group this time so opted for the "shared table" which was a good choice in that a good range of dishes appeared although the dessert pizza was a let down after the rest of the meal. There are two sittings 6.30pm and 8.30pm. Be warned that if you attend the 6.30pm table you will be moved on at 8.30pm on the dot.
Love love love!
swanky with a silent s and maybe a tad over priced but the staff were pleasant enough and the pizzas were yummy, I would go back again simply for the meat ball pizza
We were taken to Melt by family and friends and thoroughly enjoyed our meals from an exellent pizza & tapas menu and small but definately good selection of accompanying wines. The perfect place for a group to enjoy.
Melt on Saturday night. Food was absolutely supurb as always. Friendly waiting staff who provided good advice about food and wine selection, however, were a little hard to get the attention of at times. The ambiance is fantastic especially if you are perched at the bar with a friend. My only criticism is that patrons who indulge in the wine list are being absolutely ripped off. Take the bottle of Eliza sparkling we started with, $44 when it is only $32 down the road at Mantra! We were quite shocked with the dramatic difference especially when Melt offers less in terms of a setting than it's mate down the road. If you don't mind the price hike, get in on it. Well done.
Food fantastic, service great. But busy thursday night and only fault I can complain about was noisy +++. Not recommended for an intimate quiet evening but will go back
I dig the tapas, I love that you can get a cocktail on a Saturday afternoon and I wish there were more places like it. Keep up the good work. Cheers!
Yum, yum, yum.. tastiest pizza I have ever eaten! A bit noisy but worth it for the food.
i have been coming to melt for a few years now and just adore the place, recently had a dinner there with a few people, there ended up being 2 extras, but i was told during the day that they could squeeze a couple more in than i had booked for if it happened. However the staff were really unimpressed at this, which i apologised for. when i made the booking i had specifically requested a couple of menu items due to my fussy partner (we were having the shared table option) they told me this was not a problem, however when i asked on the night it was just ignored. Of our very large booking, 2 people were vegetarian, however 80% of our food was meat free, which doesn't bother me but did disappoint a few others. There was always 2 or 3 people that missed out on a piece of the tapas, giving me the impression that we were only given food for the original number of people, but charged for the extra two. Wait staff were pretty surly and snapped at a friend for lifting up her glass in an attempt to make it easier for them. I still love this place, and will be back, but probably only with a maximum of 6 people, it just didn't seem to work well that night.
great pizza. good service. better than organic pizza house, but still not as good as amalfis. recommended nonetheless
My dining experience at this restaurant six months ago was actually fantastic. The food was great and the service was fantastic; the barman was chatting to us making sure we were always satisfied, as were the polite and equally interested barwomen. However I went there last night with my partner and we sat at the same spot at the bar as we did last time, to which we had a different experience than anticipated. The tapas of pan fried haloumi cheese and some chicken wings were good. We had an El Diablo pizza to share as a main, this was good too however I discovered half-way through that it was missing something Ö the mozzarella. I felt silly for not realising this earlier and given that nearly half was gone, I didnít feel the need to say anything at this point. Our night was not affected too much by this incident, but the poor inattentive and disinterested service is what did it. I think the only words offered to us all night by one of the three (somewhat depressed) people in front of us was Ďwhat would you like?í when it came time to take our order. I had to ask to order the cocktails and wine, and my water glass was only filled once all night despite being empty for some time. The sad looking girl behind the bar gave my partner an overtly disappointed/pretentious look when she declined more wine, I actually found this distasteful. I didnít feel we had been reserved at all at this point, especially since I spent $200 the night before at XO Super Club (where I highly recommend you go if you havenít!) and I had planned to still order a chocolate pizza for dessert plus coffees and a cognac for myself; but it was here that I decided to finish and end our meal elsewhere, in an attempt to redeem some satisfaction from our evening. Also, there was lots of noise which I hadnít experienced last time. For example cutlery being thrown by staff into the tubs, glasses breaking behind the bar and just general clanging (not sure what from though). This didnít happen at all last time, despite the modest floor space and continuous conversations by many guests. Iím not too happy Melt and I wonít be coming back unfortunately, nor recommending you like I had previously; I can only hope those who went under my advice did not encounter an experience like mine last night. I will opt for pizzas at Farina Kitchen & Bar or Sparrow in the future. I was actually happier prior to entering Melt than when I left lol! I would spend your money elsewhere guys, there are plenty more restaurants to attend throughout Adelaide where I know you will go home happy and also frequently return.
The pizza description on the menu sounded amazing, however the pizza's that were served where nothing special at all. All reasonably priced. It was an awkward dinning experience with tables so close to one another it was hard not to overhear other peoples conversations. It felt as though you needed to watch what you were saying due to the company sitting right next to you. Due to this it was also loud, creating an unsatisfying ambiance. Do not understand what the fuss was. Will not return. If you want a good pizza place try Goodlife Pizza's where there ingredients are organic and found within S.A.
Fantastic Pizza, severely overpriced wine and staff that are annoying and unprofessional.
melt was recommended to me by a friend so I was quite disappointed with my experience there. Too much noise from the kitchen, too congested and too many flies. Couldn't see what all the fuss was about, the waitress while attentive with drinks mucked up my order and then tried to tell me it was my fault. Maybe I picked the wrong night to go but I won't be going back to find out if that is the case. A definite pass for me.
I had heard good things about this resturant however I was disappointed by the service. The tables & chairs are quite short & as a result the waitress was literally putting her arm in my face several times in the night to pour our wine. We were asked to vacate the table despite my prepaying for the tapas, pizza & desert pizza, at that stage we still had not received our desert pizza. I paid for all on the table & was disappointed that the number of food items was not equitable. Three people were paid for, I would have expected three pieces of each tapas not two. When I complained to the manager at the end of the dinner there were no concessions given to us..... later we were outside the restuarant waiting on one of our guests to join us & the manager & the staff were laughing. Poor effort from whoa to go & I will be making sure that any who mention dining down King William Road best avoid Melt.
RECYCLED COKE! i have been a chef for ten years and think i have a pretty good idea of restaurants so far, went there the other night with my girlfriend for pizza and coffee, pizzas were nice bit to much rocket on the jamon and no actual jamon on the pizza but prociutto instead which if fine, but the thing that got me was when we ordered a simple glass of coke and received it, it was flat so i asked for another one politely knowing how much workers can hate complaining customers didnt think it was a big deal and got the fresh glass with a bit of a grunt then witnessed the girl pour the flat coke into the new bottle opened up! now i know cutting costs is needed sometimes but that is taking it a bit to far in my view a bottle of coke costs $2.30 for a 2lt and they sell a glass of 150 ml for $3.50 now its pretty easy to see you make your money on one glass and to see that just made it cheap and nasty in my eyes that was the put off other wise i would of happily dined there again and again but knowing how bad you need to recycle coke come on pull your finger out
Although food was nice....it wasn't worth the 1hr wait. It was a saturday night when we visited Melt so it was packed which was to be expected however, we also came in hungry so the hunger had gone and passed by the time our meals arrived. Plus it was a little squishy and loud so not ideal if you want to have a conversation with friends etc. Although nothing wrong with food, nOt in a hurry to visit again.
I was disappointed with Melt. The food was OK but not fantastic. We ordered the three course package, assorted tapas, pizza for the main & a desert pizza. For three people the tapas was short on equal portions, we paid for three but in reality would get only 2 pieces. I complained, more food came. We sat on little stools with low tables, nothing wrong with that. However the waitress insisted on pouring our wine which resulted in her arm one inch from our faces a number of times. Insult to injury.... we were asked to vacate our table as other patrons needed it, rude as we still hadn't received our desert pizza already paid for! I complained to the manager quietly at the end of the evening, he made all the right noises of commiseration. Shortly after we were made aware of the "team" laughing about our expectations of a good restaurant. Disappointing, I work on KWR & will let all & sundry know of the disappointment "waiting" for them at Melt.
my experience at melts on waymouth st was terrible the food was awful there was no room to move i ordered a scotch n coke and when i got it my drink was warm asked for another and that was warm and flat so i had to drink water most the nite we deffinately wont be going back there and i wont reccomend it
