This is probabaly one of the most authentic Chinese restaurants that I have eaten at in Australia. It was refreshing to find a restaurant without the ubiquitous 'sweet and sour pork' and 'black bean beef'. The range of dishes available to choose from is huge, and what is excellent is that a picture of the food is placed on the menu so as to help those no familiar decide. The servings are huge, which makes this restaurant such great value for money. The staff were very helpful and friendly; it was great to see so many people smiling. My only gripe is that the restaurant is quite dark, and I would encourage the owners to install more lights. However this is only a small issue, and it will not deter me from returning.
WOW amazing value for money and delicious too!!! Soup is absolutely massive at around $9 a bowl and the Szechuan Beef was enough to feed about 6 people!!!! I love the staff and the big fish in the tank at the back!! my fave 'after market' eat out!!! yumyumyum highly recommended!!!!!
This has got to be the best value along Gouger Street. The soups were huge and really tasty. You can watch the noodles being hand made in the window and then taste them. The service was great even though it was really busy - the food came out fast. Can't wait to return for more noodles.
This is our 'go to' place when we are downtown. Never disappoints even after a dozen visits. Way above average noodles at a great price and great service. We never miss the onion pancakes. This place is filled with asians because they know where the best food for the price is.... its a no brainer -- go there.
All I can say is that the food is very AUTHENTIC, and really reminded me of my mums cooking....I don't have my mum to cook these dishes anymore, so going there is soooo awesome, because I get to eat some comfort food.....Well done, N.K. I have gone there now about 3/4 times, and will be back with my family again.....
Great tasting noodles and generous servings for a good price. Its always busy. The chilli pork noodles are my favourite!
1. Menu has pictures alongside choices for easy choosing. 2. Excellent value. 3. Very large serves. 4. Received meal within 15 min. of ordering. 5. Food was exceptional - DELICIOUS!! A MUST TRY
if you're looking for a genuine chinese feel- both for food and ambiance the this is your place. you'll be reminded of china as soon as you step in! great huge serves and tastes great.
Noodle Kingdom has fresh authentic Chinese food at a cheap price. The noodle dishes are a stand out, as is the Szechuan fish in chilli oil and their fried pork dumplings. The serves are large and they happily provide take out containers (for 50c I think it is) if you cannot finish everything. You see students fill several containers with all their leftovers to take home and eat at home during the week all the time. I've eaten here well over 100 times and the experience is good every time. However, if you are Western (& don't speak Chinese) then getting the attention of the waiting staff can sometimes be difficult. This doesn't affect the enjoyment of the excellent food, though! & once ordered the food comes out really quickly. I've been on a culinary journey to Beijing, China, and to me the food at Noodle Kingdom is some the closest to Beijing goodness that you can find in Adelaide. I hearily recommend it to everyone who likes real Chinese food, not the westernised suburban version.
Best food eaten after long time Fresh Noodles Made by Chef at the counter tooooooooooooooooooooo Good
The restaurant was two-thirds full round about eight o? clock when we entered, filled with mostly Asian patrons. The menu features pictures of every single dish with captions underneath in Chinese as well as detailed English translations and a guide to the spice level (one chilli going up to four chillis?) and this proves helpful to non-Chinese clients like me. However, on this particular Saturday the menu served merely as a picture book that I flicked through as I left entrusted my housemates to do the ordering, in Chinese of course! While my dinner companions enjoyed Taro Shakes in light shades of lavender served up in old fashioned ice cream sundae glasses I decided to take the edge off the long week I?d had with a glass of Peter Lehman?s Riesling from the Barossa Valley, priced at $ 4.50 p/ glass. This paired well with the spicy Fujian and Schezwan food we sampled. For rest of review and pics: http://meagan-megalomaniac.blogspot.com/2010/03/noodle-king.html
Love Noodle Kingdom. All our family love it too. Great food, big serves, fast service, really cheap prices. We dinned there for a special occasion with the WHOLE family, 17 of us, stuffed full plus soft drinks came up under $200 with much leftover we couldn't finish. We have gone back time and time again. Our favourite. We have even taken interstate visitors who loved it so much. I so look forward to my next visit. Best chinese food ever...
The food was good, however service was bad. The many times we asked for plates and ignore on each occasion. If your not asian expect to be treated like crap. Even though the food was good, we will not be going there again.
