Serving Tapas & Italian.
On the Sunday night that we went the service was very efficient, although I couldn't help but feel that were being hurried along a bit. The bread was really nice and the leafy salad hit the spot, but my gnocchi were lumpy. Not too hard or too soft, but really lumpy. Every single one of them had small pockets of lumpy dough, as if the potato had been mashed, rather than finely sieved. Considering the overall taste was good, it was a real disappointment, especially considering this is a traditional Italian restaurant. On the bright side, my friend's cotolette were delicious renditions of tender, home cooked Italian schnitzel. For this dish alone, I'd make the effort to give this place another try.
Took some customers here for a meal. They were impressed. I was impressed. It was fantastic. There is nothing I can fault them on. Meals sizes are huge but also top quality. Service was impeccible. Prices were fair - not over the top at all. My only fear is that they are trying extra hard to impress due to the recent opening and that over time the current high standards will slip. If however they can maintain this level of quality and service over time it will easily become one of Adelaides best restaurants.
Was fantastic! Whoever said the food and service wasn't good must have gone on a one off bad night which every restaurant I assume would experience after opening. Food and service was excellent and at the end of the night the staff even had a little dance where they were standing to the sounds of Gypsy Kings!! Great atmosphere, made me want to get up and dance too. Will definitely be back there, great job guys!
I can not speak highly enough of my experience at Osteria, wonderful food, generous serves and great value ( service was good too, warm but not over the top). I had the most amazing house made gnocci and we shared Tiramisu which was well worth the extra full belly! We ventured into the fabulous ambient adjoining bar area to finish our bottle of wine and relax. Well done guys and great to see such fab food make it to the suburbs! Can't wait to go back, have tried to get a booking a few times now and hard to get it- book well in advance!
I have been Osteria only once but I really enjoyed it. The service was great, our waiter was very nice and had a good sense of humour. He brought water to the table with us asking, which we really appreciated. The food was delicious, I had the cannelloni which I loved, but the serve was a bit big, yet I still finished it. I didn't try any dessert but my friend really liked the one she had. I thought the prices were a bit high but I will definitely go there again.
I dined at the Osteria de Mesa last night and our experience was absolutely excellent. We arrived early and the staff were friendly and helpful in deciding what to order and also very prompt and attentive. I ordered the Linguini Marinara which was cooked to perfection. The restaurant fit out is very nice with an Italian and Spanish influence. Later in the night the restaurant became very busy and quite loud, however, the food and service made the experience definitely worthwhile. Highly recommended and I will be returning again soon. The restaurant also features a separate bar which I plan to explore next time.
went there thinking it was greek food, to our surpise it wasnt. so we went for the Tapas....was fanastic and the sangria was really good too...go there....was really enjoyable
Lovely food! It was a bit noisy inside on a Saturday, they were fully booked. We asked to move outside and the waitress was very helpful. Can recommend the fresh pasta and the tirimisu, so good! we will be back!
Great food and quite large serves at a reasonable price. I had a pizza and the base was perfection! The waiter was lovely and he served me an extra huge piece of tiramisu (which was delicious!) The cocktails were great too. The only fault is that the place is quite noisy on a busy night.
Held my 22nd birthday there and the food was fantastic! The waiters and waitresses looked after us well. The place was a bit small.
An early mid-week dinner at Osteria de Mesa certainly was a good experience for us. The food was excellent (and good value) and we hope to explore a great-looking drinks list on another, weekend, occasion. I still don't get the Spanish/Italian mix, it seems to work very well. We ordered a selection of entrees and shared some pizzas as mains - a really top decision as it gave us a good selection of the very interesting menu. While the service was a bit patchy the staff were very warm and friendly. And while the room was a tad loud, the place was pumping and had a great atmosphere. Osteria de Mesa richly deserves the good reviews it's been getting and is a welcome addition to what has been a rapidly-tiring restaurant strip. We'll be back, and soon!
Loevly food & great mix of seating options. This was let down by some fairly lax service. Some groups were squashed onto tables, we were asked to move tables, a cleaning cloth was left on the bench next to us & attention to pay the bill was difficult. They asked which order we'd like our meals served & provided them all at the same time regardless. They also incorrectly added a bottle of wine to our bill. Despite this I would visit again due to the fabulous food with fresh, clean flavours
A slightly strange place which is unsure of what it is, bar? large restaurant? italian? spanish? shed on major highway? quaint little spot? I agree the staff ratios don't match the number of patrons and food was all ok but not exciting.
I went there on a Tuesday night with a friend after receiving a menu in the mail. It was quite busy, even at 6pm when they opened and we didn?t have a booking, so we were sat at a table on the condition that we had to leave by 8pm when it was booked. We were offered water as we were seated and also ordered a carafe of the Rosada Sangria, which was the highlight for me. For our meal we had a couple of serves of the entrees. All of the entrees were served at the same time which was a shame because most were cold by the time we got to eating them. The baby squid stuffed with risotto was a bit of a disappointment for me. The risotto was a little claggy and the tomato sauce was very salty and tasted a little meaty. The field mushrooms with pancetta would have been delicious had I decided to eat them first, as they were a little cold when I did. They were still big & juicy though, which was nice. The chilli mussels was my favourite of the dishes and was a lot bigger serving than we had expected! Served in a large flat-ish pasta bowl in their shells, there would have been at least a good three handfuls of the mussels. I love chilli and could have used a bit more, but other than that they were good. We went around to the Jamon Bar afterwards and it looked really funky if you can get past all of the little animal carcasses hanging over the bar! At the end of our meal we were quite unsure what to do as no one came to give us the bill, so we went up to the bar to pay and without asking, he split our change for us which I thought was really nice because most places are really funny about doing that. I would go again, but would try something different.
Thursday night dinner for myself and a couple of girlfriends. Place was pretty busy. We sat down and were offered water which was lovely (that we didn't have to ask). Getting a waiter around to our table to take our food order was a challenge..took a little while. Food wait wasn't too bad, about 20mins (we were chatting away so didn't feel that long). We ordered the Duck (friend didn't rave about it), Risotto (was average) and the Linguine Marinara in Bianco (quite tasty). The meals were not huge as reviewed several times on webmenu...actually none of the meals that came out (even to other tables) looked overly big...just normal. The complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic was really fresh and delicious so a big plus for that. The restaurant has a fairly extensive outdoors dining section and a seperate room (other side of dining) that is specifically for tapas diners. Great atmosphere but they need more staff.
Great ambiance, full and busy crowd, too bad about the food and shortage of staff.
Went there recently with a group of friends. It could be a better night but was really disappointed by the service. We have about 20 people and it's our first time in this restaurant, so it took us a long time to decide what to order. One of the waitress became very impatient with us and we can see it on her face. After we ordered, no complimentary breads served at all, and she was obviously annoyed that we swapped seats to talk to other friends. The food is reasonably good for the price we paid. Not impressed by the way they served tiramisu. Put a bowl, then scooped tiramisu from the container in front of you, it's just a slump of tiramisu in the bowl.
