Not Happy Jan: Last night (16th Dec) Must admit, the food I actually had was very tasty. Now the bad news. Too overcrowded which would have resulted in the long wait for service. The drinking water was warm, only to be told we can't keep up with the demand of cold water, come on now guys, in this weather at 40 degrees. After placing our order which we had to eventually ask for a menu, only to be told, sorry out of oysters for the entree. One of the entrees already crossed off the specials board, sold out. Then to be told the Barrumundi I had ordered for the main course, sold out also. Four orders for the home made prawn ravioli in rose sauce were all sent back. Due to the fact that it was stone cold I would say that is why the prawns were not cooked, in fact it wasn't cooked properly at all. The meals were returned sometime after, this time, thumbs up. And lastly to the lovely young female waitress whom I asked for the menus as she was serving our very first glass of wine, to say, very nicely, which would you prefer, "the wine or the menu"? Needless to say, this is one unhappy lady who will never go back.
Although in a quiet part of the CBD the restaurant was full when I dined here. And it is easy to see why. The first thing that grabs your attention is the stylish decor and the fact that you can see the kitchen from the dining area. Such attention to detail enhances the dining experience. Further highlights of the restaurant include an extensive and well chosen wine list and the very helpful service. Indeed, the waiting staff even opened up a bottle of wine for me even though it was not on the 'by the glass menu' because I did not intend to drink a whole bottle. It is such things which make all the difference. And finally there was the food. All I can say is that it was an explosion of amazing flavours. My tastebuds went to paradise for the almost 2 hours I dined here. And to think that I had 3 courses with wine and it came to $52! Amazing value! On the eastern seaboard a meal of similar quality would cost double. We are very lucky to have this restaurant in Adelaide!
This was one of the best meals I have had the privilege to enjoy. It is true, the food, service and ambience were magnificent. Attentive but relaxed staff, who were willing to engage in conversation, make menu suggestions and generally make the night one of enjoyment and relaxation. Food to literally die for (I thought I had died and gone to my version of heaven!). It looks quite small from outside, but still gives you a sense of space inside, a most fantastic tree in an 'courtyard' is adorned with lights, it was beautiful. Great wine, great food, lots of groups, friends, couples eating - if this was my local restaurant I would be supremely happy. Oh and the bill, well, a pleasant surprise at the end of the night. The bill will not break your bank account.

As a local I have been to Panacea many times and always found the experience thoroughly enjoyable. Their new menu brings fresh excitement to an already diverse menu - although my personal favourite is often the inventive fish special that the chefs create each day. The staff are friendly but not effusive, prices good considering the quality of the product. I will continue to frequent this place and recommend it to others.
I only had one problem with this restaurant, the waiter. The food was to die for, and I adore the lit up tree! The reddish-haired waitress was strange though, she created a very awkward moment for us by interrupting our conversation because she forgot parts of our order because she failed to write it down, while acting as if it were our fault. She was very distracted and seemed to care more about chatting to other staff members than anything. Unfortunately, I'm a little turned off it for now, but will be back in the future.
Wow. The food was delicious. The fillet of beef I had was simply outstanding. The service I found to be just right - very attentive yet relaxed and helpful. What a great little place; we will definitely be back.
I have been three times and each time has been very busy. The atmosphere is great and the smells coming from the open kitchen are beautiful. The only thing I wouldn't order again would be the rabbit which was a little dry. The pork belly is ridiculously good, the service is good and not over the top. Would go back again.
I was there a few weeks ago, it was packed and I was concerned that I would feel crowded, but to its credit, we had a lovely evening, and didn't feel rushed, or crowded. The service was relaxed but attantive where needed. We were able to eat how we pleased (as some of my friends didn't want to share any tapas style dishes) and the food was fantastic. It sounded simple on the menu, but what came out were beautifully presented, interesting flavours. I can't wait to spend another evening there, with some wine under the tree in the courtyard.
We had a pleasant meal at Panacea. The food was fairly good (although the steak was a bit tough). The churros for dessert was unbelievably good and highly recommended. The service was excellent, very friendly. The risotto was very tasty too. Overall a nice place to eat out, but probably a little overpriced for the quality of the meal.
Service = friendly but perhaps overly casual. Value = overpriced compared to other quality venues in SA - especially the dessert. Ambience = we sat in the courtyard on a nice Autumn night and it was very relaxing - apart from the tiny leaves from the tree blowing onto our meal at times. Food = hit and miss. Some dishes were fantastic other were very ordinary. The highlights - the mussels. Yum. Very fresh mussels, delicious grilled bread and a tasty sauce to mop up. Recommended. The churros - I want more. Spot on. However for $14 one would expect more than 2 smallish churros but maybe beacause thats because they were so delicious. The lowlights - spanish meatballs. Tasty but two large pieces of unedible gristle in the mince was not good. Empanadas. Pastry was almost soggy not flaky as expected. Had an over powering spice (coriander powder?) that killed any other flavour that was there. So, worth a visit but they havent got consistency across the menu. Choose carefully and there is a good night to be had.
service was very slow and unatentive no specials at all and a menu thats looked more suited for the colder months in my opion also ran out of fish and two other main courses by 7.30 on a friday night which left me to choose a steak and chips dish.Have herd some good thing about this place but was really let down.
