The food is good but everything else is just passable. Look out for the no BYO policy rudely enforced.
Excellent customer service complemented with great quality food. Excellent value for money. You will need to book, can be a bit noisy when busy.
The Greek is a firm favourite of ours. Untill recently we lived within walking distance from "The Greek' Dinning in and take away, food is always outstanding and the service is without fault. Highly recommended.
Love this place! Great location, lovely building, very friendly and helpful staff, and the food was great! Book ahead, but worth the planning. I questioned the authenticity of the food a bit, but in general was quite pleased!
Excellent service, great tasting and fresh food, elegant yet casual ambience and very generous servings. Thouroughly recommended!
I love greek food & this is a great, casual atmosphere to enjoy the food in. Nice spot & despite being tucked away from most other eateries it goes to show how good the food is that you need to make sure you book. The old photos on the wall are a great touch!
I have been to the Greek on two recent occasions and I have not a bad word to say about it, in fact I often find myself raving to friends about the delicious food and friendly service. The platters are huge and the food amazing. The mixed platter gives you a chance to try an assortment of meats and seafood without having to order everything on the menu! All the Meze sound exciting and tasty, I only wish I could fit them all in. You can't go past the zucchini croquettes, they are so flavorful with just a hint of mint. The pita is always beautifully fresh and warm and the perfect accompaniment to the fantastic dips. For dessert you can't go past the honey puffs, they are unbelievable. By the end of the meal I am always very well fed, but somehow I find room. Staff are very attentive and friendly. They are more than happy to explain certain dishes or advise how much to order More than likely it's due to our late booking but on both occasions we have been seated in front of the Kitchen pass which is neither good or bad, but as such I have little comment on the ambiance. I am working up an appetite and can't wait to return.
the food is good and you get a lot! on the expensive side though. the food is very salty, but that might just be all greek food... its very yummy though. you can eat outdoors or inside, but the wall is a window if you sit in the front. a bit squishy, but a very nice restaurant and id go there again. you can get a lot of meats and prawns. and the wedges/chips are amazing!!! you can get these big platters with lots of different meats to share eg kebabs and stuff
Love this place. Food is delicious, building is very funky! Croquette entrees are so good.
The breakfast menu is great with lots of interesting options. The scrambled eggs were delicious but I wouldn't rush back for the omelette. We want to go back and try the other brekkie items though. Good coffee and good service.
Have eaten at The Greek on several occassion and have always enjoyed the food. The last time though, I didn't realise the NO BYO policy. Ended up not very good value for money. Won't be returning. I wonder if restaurants crave the few extra dollars so much that they are willing to forego return business.
Went to The Greek for a Christmas lunch and very very disappointed! At $65 a head with 20+ of us, most of us had to get some junkfood on the way home! During our main meals, there were no condiments served with our meats. We asked for the tomato sauce that was meant to come with our meatballs, the manageress had "double check" the menu as she didn't seem to believe us that the sauce was missing. Then, they only brought one small serve! We then had to ask again to supply sauce for the other 5 main meal platters! The food was nice, but one of each item (one slice of haloumi, one meatball, one lamb cutlet etc) is very expensive. We expected to have beverages inclusive or have Christmas decorations on the table for this amount! When we finished lunch, spending over $2000 in total with food and wine, we were short a couple of dollars ($2-3). We were stopped and asked to finalise our bill! Not that I would ever expect to eat for free, but as we had spent so much money, I thought $2-3 dollars could of been waived. I understand that Christmas is a busy time and yes, restaurants always amp up the price of regular meals. But this is just ridiculous! A place that once was "the place to be" for Greek food, has really changed my mind. Very disappointed that myself and everyone else here at our workplace won't be eating there again.
We had heard such great things about this restaurant so we finally booked in for my recent birthday but were hugely disappointed. I had the seafood dish as a main (calamari, prawns, bugs, served with rice in a creamy sauce) but it was the saltiest meal I've ever had and I'm sure it's not typical of Greek food because we've dined at Zucca's and Kefi's and did not have this problem. I must have downed 2 jugs of house water during my meal. Service was great but food very salty!
The food was average in terms of quality and portion size.I was asked by the waiter how was my food when I told her the gyros served was burt and overcooked nothing was done about it ,I was then asked again how my meal was and when i respond the waiter looked a blank face !!So why do they ask if THEY DONT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT!!!!
poor effort. it is not The Greek on Halifax it once was!! food was poor and over expensive for what was served - more like pub food. the dishes are not as 'authentic' as they sound. seems to be a case of owners cashing in on the previous owners hard work, and not maintaing standard.
