The HWY Bistro has rapidly moved from strength to strength. Utilizing our Chef's (Matt Fuller) extensive up-to-date knowledge and guest feedback, we create seasonal menus catering for all palates. Each day, our chefs formulate enticing, specials designed around the current season and events taking place across the hotel. Our daily specials displayed prominently in the Lounge Bar and verbally recited by our Bistro staff, comprise of 4 or 5 specials extending our menu and incorporate affordable meal options for senior citizens. We have perfected the art of categorizing wine into marriages of flavour styles rather than varietals assisting our guests in selecting a wine that compliments their meal. The well priced list has over 30 wines by the glass and caters to all tastes. By the bottle the list is extensive and ranges from house wines (Oxford Landing) to a crisp Hewitson Lu Lu Sauvignon Blanc which compliments our spatchcock chargrilled & finished w a grape & taragon jus w asparagus, beetroot & goat’s cheese salad or if a Bendbrook Rib Eye is your style perhaps a Two Hands “Gnarly Dudes” Shiraz is more to your likening. Served in glassware designed to allow the wine to breath you are sure to enjoy every mouthful. Extending the clean, crisp lines of the Bistro’s décor, our menu presents simply & elegantly providing the perfect canvas to showcase mouth watering descriptions of Adelaide’s finest produce used to create our meals. The contemporary design of our Bistro carries through to the finer details including our selection of uniquely designed crockery which enhances the admirable presentation of each dish which is all set upon cedar tables, finished with specially designed candle centre pieces. Complimenting our food and beverage selection is our elite team of staff. Engaging in regular training and tasting programs ensures their product knowledge is of the highest standard allowing them to answer most questions asked of them. This provides our guests with the knowledge they require to make educated decisions when selecting their food and beverage and therefore, an excellent dining experience. By providing our guests with options such as still or sparkling water and providing a tasting of several different wines before making their final decision allows our staff to showcase the best our Bistro has to offer. The Highway has elevated pub dining to a new level. We came for dinner, and the first thing which surprised us was the excellent customer service. We were all made to feel incredibly welcome and we were treated like royalty for the entire night. We all found the decor to be very stylish. In particular the bar in the bistro was praised by all in our dining group. We ordered a few share plates, which were all fantastic value considering the amount and superior quality of the ingredients. The last surprise came at the end, when we got our bill. We were quite full and additionally we had ordered a bottle of wine, yet the bill came to $77! Excellent value for money, and we will definately be back!

Just a quick note to say a very big THANK YOU for making my parents Ruby Wedding Anniversary such a memorable occasion last Saturday. Compliments to your staff - they did a fantastic job!! Special thanks to Hayden (?) - he was awesome and went out of his way to help me. I look forward to having another event with you in the future.
My boyfriend, I and another couple had dinner there last night. I wanted to give you some feedback. We had the most amazing meals, 2 of The chicken specials, Atlantic Salmon and S + P Squid. The service was outstanding as well, I have worked many years in the Hospitality industry and I appreciate when someone takes pride in their job. I will return and recommend to others. Cheers!

this place rocks. great food, great service. just an awesome place to go to eat. the atmosphere is pretty good too.

I visited the Highway recently for a quick mid-week dinner. I'd recommend eating in the restaurant as it's the warmest spot on cooler days & offers the full bar menu with table service. My partner & I both ordered schnitzels which were out in less than 10 minutes & perfectly hit the spot. I look forward to returning.
Hi all, just wanted to give a little report following my first dinner in the bistro in over 18 months, last night with my Mother and Stepfather. It was fantastic! The service has come a long way, our waitress Nic (Nicole?) was very very good. Perfect timing on approaching us regularly, very friendly, courteous and professional. She sold everything very well including the delivering the specials. BRAVO! She should be commended. The sirloin was very chewy, but I spoke with the manager about this and I said it's always a catch 22 with steaks, for every 10 great steaks Ive ever had while dining out your always bound to get one average one here and there. No big deal at all to me, its the law of averages. Ploughmans platter, & the Spatchcock were very, very nice and fish and chips tasted like the freshest fish i have had dining out in a long time. Two thumbs up, well done on a fantastic room, excellent service and great food.
Hello, I would just like to give my commendations for such a fantastic experience I had whilst dining @ the Highway two weeks ago for tea. The service was wonderful, and the food was exquisite. I would also like to comment on the dining room layout, which looks beautiful.

After being told how great the new renovations were at the Highway Inn, I had to go and see it for myself! The hotel looks amazing, very modern and, although it's there, you can't feel the presence of the pokies room. We had a booking for 3 in the bistro and from the moment we were greated to when we left, we were thoroughly impressed. I had a the salmon special as and entree, my friends had a seafood share plate which looked amazing and tasted fresh and perfectly cooked. I then had lemon chicken and my friends had a spicy pizza and the pasta special with tuna - all were perfectly sized and we enjoyed every mouthful. We weren't hungry for dessert but the adorable waitress tempted us with a chocolate plate that was on their specials board. It was fantastic, we felt so indulgent! We matched our meals with a bottle of white wine, opened and poured at the table and finished with coffees and the shots of liquor on the chocolate plate. The standard of service was something we'd learnt to expect from restaurants you pay $80p.head for so we were pleasently surprised when out account was delivered and we paid less than $150 for a 3x3 course meals with a nice bottle of wine! Thanks to all the staff at the Highway Inn We'll definately be back!
Yesterday (26th January 2009), myself and 3 friends had meet and had lunch at your venue. It was with out a doubt the best customer service we have all observed and experienced in a VERY long time, individually we all eat out reguarly and feel very confident in stating this with many comparisons of other hotels/cafes' and restuarants. The two outstanding staff you have been fortunate enough to have working for you are Haydn and Justin - if you have employee of the month or additional renumartion acknowledgements i would like to have them nominated. Justin greeted and seated us, served our food menu, and when sharing a tri platter of dips had the initiative to has the kitchen to hold our mains and informed us of this, was attentive but not invasive, and we noticed when patrons were leaving he thanked them and farewelled them - intially we assumed they were friends, but then when his shift finished he came around to each table and said thankyou and have a nice day....OUTSTANDING customer service, and Hadyn was also very good, attentive and when deciding the wine offered a sample, and when asked if we enjoyed our meals we all did but the prawn dish (special) was not a good order - the prawns were tough - the person ordering them eats prawns several times a week so is a fair judge - we assume they were cooked frozen prawns and reheated - hence the overcooked tough texture - but the meal serves were good sizes and we all shared so food was enough, but just gave the feedback re prawns to Haydn - he actually informed the chef who apologiesed and brought this back to the customer and offered a dessert (which wasnt taken up - but coffees would have been enjoyed JUST For future maybe) SO thankyou for employing both of those gentleman and an enjoyable lunch experience - we shall return and have already told others.

This place is great! Great food, great service and great atmosphere! Definitely a place to dine out with some friends and enjoy a few drinks afterwards. I had the lamb salad last time I dined here. I don't normally order salads when I dine out but this one was so tasty! The lamb was cooked to perfection and mixed with the feta gave it a really nice flavour. I have also tried the salt and pepper squid before which was also really nice. I will definitely be coming back again with a group of friends.
Well hello style on a plate!!! from decor, to service, to wine list, to the food this place has hit the MasterCritiq soft spot this year as one of the best places i have dined yet in its category!! Lets hope they can keep this up as I will be making a few more visits as the rule of three!!!
I went there with a group of my friends to celebrate my birthday and WOW didn't they do a fantastic job, thank god we made a booking as it was very busy. Our table started with a couple of share plates and although there was not a lot of space on the table due to the size of these plates they were fantastic. The balinese plate had a great selection of asian cuisine that was all full of fantastic flavours. The seafood presented amazingly and didn't let down when tasted. For mains we had a local bendbrock beef w beetroot and horseradish side, a lemon chicken and a couple of snappers wrapped in banana leaves with rockmelon salad again WOW!!. These guys have brought a much overdue bistro to an area which has crying out for a establishment of this style. WELL DONE and i will definetely be back
We eat out several times a week and often choose to dine at the HWY both in the bistro and out in the beer garden. We are always satisfied with our meals and the service is impeccable, the girls and boys in the bistro always have a smiling face when we walk in and remember our names. They have recently changed their menu (again) and it is the best yet, well done to whoever had a hand at designing this one! One of their managers told me about this website and that we can check out other restaurants reviews before we go out, so I've taken the opportunity to say a BIG THANK YOU to the Highway and their staff for making each dining experience a special one. We went to the H'way for my girlfriends b'day. It was Saturday night and it was a full house. Overall the evening was good, but there were a few things that could have made it better. From all reports the food was of a good standard. Everyone had a nice meal except for one. He ordered the pig belly and unfortunately the meal was a majority of fat, with not much meat. The meals were a bit varied, with some being a large portion, and others a small portion. It was very hard to talk as it was so loud. The waiting staff made mistaskes- starting with not providing enough plates for everyone to put their garlic bread on, to having to be asked twice for water. They were very busy though. If you wanted something you had to ask. They charged a $20 fee for bringing a cake, which i think is ridiculous, but we had no choice. The most disappointing thing was that after we ate out meal, they told us that we weren't allowed to go into the beer garden, via the side door of the restaurant. They informed us that we would have to go outside and line up (the line was huge). We had planned to stay there and have a few drinks but we ended up going elsewhere. You'd think that after we had just handed over more then $400, that they could at least let us stay as we had made a booking for dinner.
