After a several years I went with a group on a Temptation voucher and was pleased to find that the food was as good as ever. Even though the menu choice was limited with the voucher all the dishes were tasty and well presented. The good thing about the voucher was that it included dessert (which I've never tried before) - yummo.
Now folks, this is TRADITIONAL Indian cuisine! None of that back street restaurant style Indian that tastes like a bland jar of Pataks, but the real deal. We have been there many, many times and will continue to make this a part of our dinner regime as long as the food stays exotically spiced and traditional. Their Sunday, in by 5:50 - out by 7 is a deal worth grabbing. Mmmm, if you don't like hot - don't go near the vindalloo...you'll feel the effects as soon as you have one mouthfull! Mmmmm, I love the spike kitchen. Give the king of india, or what ever it's called (up the road just near Unley on Clyde) a miss and come to the Spice Kitchen instead. You won't be disappointed!
I went for my friend's party who had just spent a year Gap in South America. We chose the Snake Charmer & all I can say is wow, wow, wow. The place is fantastic; food, ambience, staff & the belly dancers.
Went there on a Saturday night, the place was packed and people were waiting outside the door to get in. We went inside and had a booking thank goodness! We were shown to our table and the friendly waiter took our drink orders and we thought the food was going to take a long time to come out but surprisingly for such a busy restaurant both the food and drinks came out fast and we loved every moment of it. I would highly recommend the restaurant to anyone who wants to experience innovative Indian cuisine.
What can i say........ The flavour in the meals just jumps out at you, it's an explosion of the taste buds. I have been going to The Snake Charmer for 20 years, and they are unstoppable. The relaxed feel that comes over you when you walk in, is fantastic. The staff are always calm, helpful and polite. I work nationally and always tell people of this venue Simply Brilliant
i went here a couple of weeks ago for my birthday dinner with 10 friends. IT WAS BRILLIANT! Restaurant was packed, but the service was prompt and all our meals came out at the same time. It was the best indian I have ever tasted! ( and I am indian!!!) The flavours were superb. The Belly Dancer topped off a fantastic night!!! would highly recommend it - we will definately be going back again
The Snake Charmer is an Adelaide institution, nearly matching the Jasmine for excellent Indian food in lovely surroundings. I haven't been back for years but had to ask myself why after a great dinner last night. The menu has a lot of variety and novelty but still has the old favourites. The wine list is very good too, with premium house wines by Mike Press (although not availble by the glass). All of the dishes we ordered were very good indeed and the unusual flavours in our naans (onion & coriander, chili and nut) were lovely. Service was pleasant and professional. While prices are reasonable anyway, there are also excellent early-bird, early-weeknight and Sunday buffet deals to be had. Highly recommended.
Wonderful flavours and good, friendly service.Great value.
The staff there are very friendly and the variety of food there was fantastic. The price was very reasonable and they have early bird specials if you dine early and leave before peak time. I would definately go there again.
Fantastic takeaway. Had eaten here years ago and enjoyed it and decided for takeaway last Sunday night. Was delivered in just under an hour (we were informed it would take around an hour at the time of ordering) - and delivery (within 5kms)is free for orders over $35. Had a sensational cheese naan, the dhal, prawn malabar and Paneer Mattar. We thought the flavours were delicious and servings generaous. Will definitely be ordering from here again.
I went to this resturant twice, the first time I went was better. The butter chicken was fantastic. The other meals were good. I liked the entres and the papadams and the naan bread, but i wish we had the garlic naan bread.
awful - just had dinner there was not authentic Indian and was not very nice!
We had to wait for half an hour for our take-away (which we ordered 30 mins before we arrived). Other customers were waiting as well. It was not worth the wait. The naan was tough and hard and the curries were tasteless. A complete waste of time and money. Won't be going back.
