Given the Stag claims it's the worst vegetarian restaurant in Adelaide, I felt compelled to order a steak. I chose the 200g fillet with mushroom sauce & it was cooked to perfection (which is a nice change for an Adelaide pub). Keep in mind the steaks on the menu are just served with chips though, so you have to order a salad separately. I overlooked this & missed out. All in all recommended for a good, easy feed on Rundle Street.

The Stag prides itself on being one of South Australia's finest steak restaurants. It lives up to this as the steak here is fantastic. Unfortunately the prices are a little bit steep, although the meat is great the sides and sauces come at extra cost. Very good wine list, exceptional service and a great atmosphere place the Stag as one of my favourite hotels to dine in Adelaide.

The staff were great, even though it's Christmas and it was a Friday night and we hadn't made a booking, they managed to squeeze us in but warned us that a table was booked after us. No worries. Large menu that focusses on steak which I wasn't interested in that night but the fish was great. The two other steaks at the table were cooked properly and tender and the fries were good. Can recommend the chorizo platter for a starter.

A great steak cooked perfectly. A lovely evening watching the world go by as we sampled several bottles from their limited but varied wine list. Relaxed and comfortable

first time here a week ago. ordered steak as it seemed to be the specialty. Ordered it rare to medium. An HOUR later I received an over cooked "well done" steak. not impressed after all the hype!

What a shambles! Desperate for a great steak, we arrived at 9pm on Saturday night, we were seated at a table close to the bar as the restaurant was full. We were given menus and advised to order from the bar. Having quickly made our choices we ordered some great sounding steaks, a bottle of decent wine a couple of great single malts and returned to the table. After having waited for 3 minutes, the guy at the bar arrived at our table telling us that the kitchen had closed '10 minutes ago'. I've been to many restaurants and never have I had such shambolic service. I rang Gauchos in Gouger St, their kitchen was open to 10.30, we had a great steak and service there without the added nightclub level background noise that The Stag's patrons enjoy! If you want a great steak in comfortable surroundings, do yourself a favour and go straight to Gauchos.
