In 1996 the original d’Arenberg 19th century homestead was renovated and extended to house the winery’s cellar door facilities. The homestead also includes a magnificent hilltop restaurant overlooking d’Arenberg’s vineyards, McLaren Vale and the Willunga Escarpment falling into the Gulf St. Vincent.

Could not fault a thing.... we were stuck on wine selection, this was easy fixed as the cellar door made selections for us....
The entire experience was amazing - brilliant food, great service and an amazing day. Our entire group's meals were faultless, with the soft centred pudding a highlight! Visiting the cellar door next door finished the day perfectly.

Perfect Sunday lunch on a warm day. Highly recommend the Lobster Medallion Grain Fed Chicken. Had to wait 15 minutes for the table, but the service and quality of food more than made up for this.
Best restaurant in SA without doubt. Modern and inventive while letting the produce do the talking. Extensive (all Darenberg) wines by the glass. Nice view, knowledgeable but not intrusive staff. Only downside is the difficulty getting a booking.
I took some foodie friends from interstate here for lunch and it was the perfect way to end our day in McLaren Vale. We took the degustation option because it seemed to have the best bits of the menu - except for one dish which we all wanted so we asked for it to be incorporated into the degustation and this was accommodated with no fuss. We also went for the wine match option. The food was exceptional! The wines were great. The only negative comment would be that some courses came with three different wines which made it hard to appreciate them - it might be a better option to allow people to pick which wine they'd like. At $110 per person for food and wine this has got to be one of best value degustations in SA. Am already planning my next trip to McLaren Vale for a repeat performance.
Wonderful food, attentive and pleasant service. Cellar door prices for excellent wine choices a definite bonus. Leave room for dessert
Went with the recommendation of most reviewers online and opted for the degustation menu and we were not disappointed. Outdoor seating was scenic and service attentive. Was a well spent 4 hours on saturday afternoon and we'll do it again soon.
I thoroughly enjoyed my passionfruit souffle which was the perfect ending to a delicious lunch. I only wish the restaurant was also open for dinner.
d'Arrys has become one of our favourite places in South Australia, particularly outside of the metro area. We have eaten lunch there many times and it has been faultless on every occasion. Despite the fact that the restaurant is priced at the medium to higher end of lunch menu's the wine list is incredibly affordable. The pricing is such that you tend to stroll through and try a fair amount on the list, just because you can (it is all available by the glass) and won't have you crying come bill time. No doubt a good strategy for the Cellar Door as you invariably find a few 'must haves' over lunch and are in no condition to resist by this point. Some of the dishes I have had here remain with me for a long time afterward. The Cepe sauce and potato gateaux that comes with the beef fillet is incredible and has made every steak I cook at home feel naked and unfinished. The 'Lobster Medallion with Blue Swimmer Crab, Prawn Ravioli & Lobster Bisque' (that's a mouthful) is also divine. When we go to McLaren Vale we want to enjoy all things wine and food and d'Arrys has become a 'must-visit' when are down there.
Second visit and was not dissapointed. The menu is very extensive and it is very difficult what to decide on. The quality, presentation and service of the food was fantastic. The wine list is extensive and if you are stuck for a choice, you can just pop in next door and sample some of the wines on offer. I am a very fussy diner and was not dissapointed. Would recommend to anyone. Take the time, spoil yourself and enjoy a long lunch at d'Arrys.
