Unfortunately the Indiana Tea House certainly lived up to all expectations. Yet another restaurant in Perth that is excessively priced with the quality of food to match a semi-upmarket pub. The service started well when we walked through the door, but then went down dramatically once we where seated. Service was very slow, debative and unfriendly. The menu options and wine list where very limited compared to what is advertised on their website - dissapointing. Our food was finally served at 10pm, after numerous requests. My steak was cooked as requested which was pleasing, however the bernaise sauce had the texture and taste similar to something you would buy bottled in a supermarket. My guests the fish and chips, and wagyu beef burger. Both where edible but hardly memorable, especially given the unwarranted price. Plate presentation was fine, but not to the standard you would normally expect from such a signature restaurant. The view at sunset was fantastic, and after last nights personal experience - it is the only selling point for this restaurant. But having said that, there are many other restaurants in Perth that also have that to avoid coming back twice. I certainly will not be going back, nor will I recommend anyone coming here!! The service was pretty much summed up when we where leaving and asked staff if they would be abe to order a cab for us. We (and an erderly couple also dining at the restarant) where uncaringly told to get our own cabs from a pub further down the road. Needless to say we all bonded waiting for a cab for 40-45mins discussing how we ALL would not be coming back again.

Friends of ours came to visit us from Sydney and they were both chefs and I offered to take them to Indiana for lunch. We came early so we can enjoy a quick swim first and then have some lunch. When we got to the restaurant we were seated in one of the best spot of the dining room and unfortunately that was the only highlight of our day. As far as the food goes, well I have to say that the government did an excellent job at destroying the hospitality industry by bringing people from any corner of the globe and learn to cook for one year and become qualified. These same people who think they can cook gets thrown into a kitchen and have absolutely no clue about cooking simple, fundamental food. It's not their fault they can't cook, the real problem lies within the industry...you just can't find good quality chefs around anymore. As far as the service well is ditto, ditto, ditto. It is such a waste of a heritage venue to have unprofessional people working in a place like that. Bring back Indiana Tea House...the hey days of that restaurant. Were once upon a time food were cooked how they should be cooked.
